Breaking Tradition: Our St. Patrick’s Escape to GF Victoria, Tenerife 🌴
Every year, we try to get away for the school holidays around St. Patrick’s break. It’s become a little tradition of ours, a chance to soak up some sunshine, make new memories, and shake off the winter blues. Normally, we stay at the Hard Rock Hotel in Tenerife (you all know how much I love it there), but this year we decided it was time for something different.
The GF Victoria had been on my radar for a while, and when we spotted a small dip in price - boom! We jumped at the chance. And honestly? We’re so glad we did.
First Impressions: Stylish, Spacious, and Seriously Kid-Friendly
From the moment we stepped through the doors of GF Victoria, we knew we were in for a treat. The hotel has a bright, modern vibe but still feels relaxed and welcoming, perfect for families.
We stayed in a standard suite that felt more like a mini apartment. The kids were thrilled to have their own space (and their own bathroom), and we had a peaceful retreat of our own. Total game changer for family travel! There were little treats for the kids on the bed when we arrived, jelly suits, colouring books and thier very own beach bags - Harry and Olivia were delighted.
TIP: Request a room on Level 2, by the pool. Ask for a pool view, these come with a little enclosed garden terrace, which gives you so much extra space for drying towels, playing outside, or just relaxing while the kids nap.
Pools, Slides & Sunny Days
GF Victoria is truly a paradise for families. There are multiple pools, splash zones and they even have water slides for the younger ones, as well as quiet adult-only areas for when you can sneak away.
One of our favorite discoveries? The surf pool—yes, a real one! This is one of the only activites you will have to pay for in resort, but it is defiinitely worth the money and the nonstop laughter.
If you get a chance to escape the kids for a while try out the Adults Only Rooftop! They have the most amazing glass pool which hangs over the edge of the building making great viewing form the street below :)
Spa Time – For Everyone
I booked in for a little time at the Ayurveda spa (highly recommend the hydrotherapy circuit!), but one of the biggest surprises was that they offer kids' massages. Yes, really! It was supervised with me sitting in the room, and it ended up being a highlight of the trip for Olivia. She felt so grown up, and literally talked about it the rest of the holiday. I booked in for reflexology and it was 10/10.
I have to shout out the hotel hair salon, I had the best blow-dry I’ve ever had, home or away. I left feeling like a new person.
Incredible Location
The hotel is in the heart of Costa Adeje, in a brilliant spot for families and foodies alike.
-
Del Duque Beach is just a short stroll away. It’s honestly one of the nicest beaches on the island—with white sand (a rare find in Tenerife!).
-
We even walked home from Siam Park one day—about a 30-minute walk, very doable unless you’ve got small kids with tired legs. If not, grab an e-scooter for a fun and quick ride back.
-
You’re near the main Irish bar in Adeje (ideal if you want a familiar pint or a bit of live music) and surrounded by some of the island’s best restaurants.
Where to Eat: Our Top Picks
We ventured out most evenings, and these spots are a must:
-
Bianco's – modern Italian with a fab vibe, in Las Americas - I suggest booking a table for 8:30pm on a Friday or Saturday night to enjoy live music and their in house DJ (request a table inside)
-
Tai Pan – right next door to Bianco’s, incredible Asian cuisine - Crispy Shredded Chicken is a winner!!!
-
Rosso Sul Mare in La Caleta – right on the sea, dreamy sunset views - Make sure you visit La Caleta, you will honestly love it, it is my favourite part of Tenerife.
All are a short taxi ride away (around €10) and worth it.
Don’t Miss: Siam Park
If you’re heading to Tenerife with kids, Siam Park is non-negotiable. One of the biggest waterparks in Europe, and home to the best wave pool ever. The place is massive, with rides for all ages. Make sure to ask your hotel or travel agent to add Siam Park tickets to your package—it makes life so much easier, PLUS you get a FREE BURGER with every ticket purchased through us.
Final Thoughts
GF Victoria absolutely delivered on all fronts: luxury, fun, comfort, and plenty of wow moments. From the kids’ club and spa to the pools, food, and that perfect beachside location. It was the perfect St. Patrick’s break.
Will we be back? Absolutely.
And while the Hard Rock will always have a place in our hearts, we’re thrilled we tried something new. Sometimes change really is as good as a holiday
